We are a well established International agro-commodities group working in coffee supply chain in North Sumatra. In partnership with the IFC (International Finance Corporation-World Bank), we established a Farmer Training Centre (FTC) to develop the coffee supply chain in North Sumatra area. This project aims to maintain and raise smallholder’s incomes through promoting sustainable coffee production, assisting farmers to meet with certification standards and increasing quality and productivity of the coffee. This project is a good opportunity to develop partnerships with research centres. CIRAD (International Agricultural Research Centre for Development) is one of them. It is actively involved in integrated pest management in coffee cultivation and we plan to start research on Coffee Berry Borer trapping most efficient methods.

Research officer of coffee pest - Researcher in Plant Protection and Pest Management
General Requirements
- Male / Female
- Degree from the majoring Agronomist, specialized in plant protection
- Will be located in Toba area, North Sumatra.
- Min 1 year of related job experience in similar position in coffee production would be a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge in management of trials
- Hard worker, ability to work under pressure and in field conditions
- Good proficiency in English
- Very well organized
Job Description :
- The researcher will select coffee farms suitable for the implementation of trials on integrated pest management system (BrocapⓇ trap). The trials will be conducted in partnership with CIRAD (International Agricultural Research Centre for Development).
- The researcher will implement and follow up trials on coffee berry borer, based on the protocol established by the research centre
- The researcher will collect and analyse the data of the trials in close collaboration with CIRAD
- The research officer will assist the researcher in all the activities mentioned above.
