The
Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) program will establish a
replicable model of public-private partnerships that foster low carbon
development opportunities, thereby helping to address global climate
change and contribute to economic growth. The SLP will combine public
(USAID) and private philanthropic (Walton Family Foundation) funding
into an initial $20 million facility focused on catalyzing low carbon
private sector investment in specific landscapes of high conservation
value in Indonesia over a five-year period. The Conservation Science
Specialist will work to ensure that natural capital and ecosystem
services are appropriately valued and incorporated into economic and
land/sea use decisions. A key focus for the successful candidate will be
the Sustainable Landscape Partnership. This position will contribute to
Green Economies through applied research on spatially explicit analysis
of business as usual vs. conservation based land/sea use with the
associated assessment of tradeoffs and opportunity costs to inform
land/seascape decision making. The SLP Conservation Science Specialist
is expected to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists
responsible for ‘landscape profiles’ (SIAP) that will guide our
investment recommendations as part of the Sustainable Landscapes
Partnership (SLP).
