General Manager

The employer is a group company of one of the most respected and fastest growing conglomerates in Myanmar. The diversified conglomerate has interests in Oil & Gas, Construction, Hospitality, Banking, Forestry and several other businesses. The company is a major player in the timber industry in Myanmar and is involved in both logging and international trading. With forestry concessions in three major geographies (with field sites of 5000 to 10000 acre each), the company employs more than 700 employees. To help expand its operations and bring global best practices to its logging operations, the company is interested in bringing on board a senior forestry professional to join the team as:

Position : General Managers (3 positions)

Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for leading the forestry concessions in each geographical area. They will be responsible for full spectrum of operations in their respective areas and will plan, organize, lead, control and support the following functions:

• Planning (Create Annual Operating Plans) & Budgeting
• Monitoring all forest planning operations (Mapping, Survey, Harvesting, Logging, Skidding)
• Manage Road alignment & construction; Machinery allocation and Trucking facilities; Camp Management; Infrastructure and Communication facilities; Supplies; Preventive Maintenance and Repairs;
• Ensure Cost & Expense Control, Fuel control, Training, Safety, Engineering Support, Environmental and IT system; and improve overall technical capabilities
• Build suitable organization structure for each extraction area; lead and train team members; ensure all staff welfare schemes are implemented.
• Monitor and control cost consumption by each equipment, improve productivity, Plan Hours & Utility hours and equipment performance
• Ensure that all operations achieve cost, time and quality parameters.
• Ensure regulatory compliance; Documentation and Reporting

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have:

• Graduate or Post Graduate qualification in Forestry from a reputed university.
• At least 10 years of work experience in managing large forestry resources.
• Strong experience in managing complete logging operations - Planning, Operations, Team Management, Resources Management, Reporting & Compliance; Facilities;
• Strong organizational and eadership skills.
• Strong people-management abilities; ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
• Overall maturity and presence; Cultural sensitivity. Meticulous.
• Strong problem solving skills. Resourceful.
• Good English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to be posted at site and travel, as required
