BUT AMARTA II PROJECT

AMARTA II is a USAID funded program that aims to improve the competitiveness of the value chains of three high-value commodities: Coffee, Cocoa and Horticultural crops and to increase the access to credit of small holder farmers in these three sectors.The project will work extensively with local government, farmers groups, marketing companies, processors, input suppliers and other stakeholders to increase the income of the whole sector and the proportion of income retained by farmers.Our project and offices are in Medan, Makassar, Bandung, and our National Office is located in Jakarta.We are currently seeking experienced professionals to fill the Economist/Value Chain Specialist based in Jakarta.Economist/Value Chain Specialist. S/he will be responsible for oversight and supervision of three value chain leaders in the sectors cocoa, coffee, and horticulture. The Economist/Value Chain Specialist will work closely with the Chief of Party (COP) and the Value Chain Leaders to develop and implement the development strategies for each of these value chain sectors.

VALUE CHAIN LEADER FOR HORTICULTURE – JAKARTA

Requirements:

• M.S. in Agriculture with 7 years of experience or B.S. in Agriculture with 10 years of experience working in the specialty area.
• Additional training in post-harvest management and marketing is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in principal value chain activities, especially production and post-harvest management, knowledge of productivity and quality improvement technologies and developing and implementing farmer training programs is required;
• Monitoring technology adoption, productivity and quality improvement changes and output marketing.
• Native (Bahasa) language skills required.
• One or more local languages (Provincial level languages) and English language skills at level 4.
• Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook & Power Point, the internet including email and web browsing.
