Company Overview
PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri (“ANJA”) was established in March 1986. We are a growing company in Indonesia, primarily involved in the cultivation and harvesting of fresh fruit bunches (“FFB”) from our oil palm plantations and milling FFB into crude palm oil (“CPO”) and palm kernel (“PK”), and are in the process of rapidly expanding our palm oil business. Throughout our history, we have been at the forefront of innovation and operational efficiency in plantation management and palm oil processing, with the overall goal of improving yields and productivity. We are managed by an experienced team of executives, and are committed to prudent cost management while operating in accordance with best management practices for plantation operations, minimizing any potential adverse effects of our plantations on the environment, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance.
We currently own and operate four oil palm plantations with two in North Sumatra, one on Belitung Island off the eastern coast of Sumatra and one in West Kalimantan. We also have unplanted landbank in South Sumatra and Papua. With the exception of our West Kalimantan Plantation, each of the plantations has mature oil palms and an on-site processing mill. We plan to construct a processing mill at our West Kalimantan Plantation, when a sufficient number of the planted oil palms reach maturity. We are a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (“RSPO”) and have received RSPO certification for our Belitung Island Plantation and our North Sumatra Plantation I. We are also in the process of applying for RSPO certification for our North Sumatra Plantation II.
As of December 31, 2012, we had a planted area of 40,852 hectares within a total landbank of 139,038 hectares. Our total landbank and planted area as of December 31, 2012 includes the acquisition of our Papua Landbank that was completed on January 7, 2013. Within our total landbank, we have an available unplanted but plantable landbank of 55,921 hectares, for which we have obtained or are in the process of obtaining the necessary permits and rights to develop into oil palm plantations. The remaining portions of our landbank are either not plantable due to topography or used for voluntary initiatives such as environmental conservation, riverine buffers and conservation of historical and culturally significant sites, as well as infrastructure such as roads and employee housing and amenities. Our planted area has increased from 32,788 hectares as of December 31, 2010 to 36,752 hectares and 40,852 hectares as of December 31, 2011 and 2012, respectively.
