LOWONGAN SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER & INDONESIA COUNTRY MANAGER

IDH-THE SUSTAINABLE TRADE INITIATIVE
About IDH
IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative helps to accelerate and upscale sustainable practices within mainstream international commodity markets, driving sustainability from niche to norm. We build ambitious public-private coalitions of companies, civil society organizations and governments in high-impact programs in order to benefit people, the planet and profit. Partnering with over 350 companies, 60 NGOs and numerous governmental organizations, IDH is a dynamic organization of about 50 staff members based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, with hubs in Vietnam, Indonesia, India and other countries. In the last year IDH has expanded its activities and now runs over 100 projects through 18 commodity programs in 50 countries, together with internationally operating companies and implementing partners. Among the commodities IDH focuses on are cocoa, coffee, tea, soy, cotton, timber, palm oil, natural stone, aquaculture and electronics, and new sector programs are in development. Partnering companies have committed to invest in their supply chains to make production and trade more sustainable. IDH receives its funding from the Dutch, Swiss and Danish governments.
The Sustainable Trade Initiative on Pulp & Paper (STIPP)
In Indonesia the pulp and paper sector is at a crucial point of development, where buyers of forest products increasingly demand sustainably managed plantations and a few producers have raised the level of competition by publicly announcing sustainability policies. However, the sector is at risk of continued market and civil society scrutiny unless the entire supply chain, including suppliers of pulp wood, is sustainable.

STIPP is a newly-launched program within IDH that aims to drive sector transformation towards sustainability. STIPP was founded by an international alliance consisting of IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative, Asia Pulp and Paper Group (APP) and AkzoNobel. The program is supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and The Indonesia Pulp & Paper Association (APKI) and was formally launched on June 12, 2014.
The essence of STIPP is to build partnerships that facilitate and enable learning and innovation towards better, more sustainable practices. It will do so by bringing together parties from throughout the industry in a platform for dialogue, agenda setting, learning and innovation that will allow these parties to co-create sector-wide solutions to key sustainability challenges. Initial focal points for STIPP include yield intensification, best peat-land management practices, community engagement and social conflict management, clean manufacturing, and High Carbon Stock (HCS) implementation. IDH’s role will be to professionally facilitate this platform, and provide co-funding for studies and prototyping of different best practices that can be scaled up.
The objectives of STIPP are:
  1. Assisting and accelerating pursuit of pulpwood producers of sustainable forest certification.
  2. De-linking deforestation from the supply chain by incenting producers to pursue a zero deforestation policy.
  3. Partnering with industry actors to co-create sector-wide innovations and solutions to accelerate sustainability. For example: peatland management best practices, defining High Carbon Stock (HCS) forest standards, yield intensification, restoration and compensation, community engagement and empowerment.
  4. Assisting in implementation and sharing of clean manufacturing best practices.

To lead STIPP into the implementation phase and to strengthen its Indonesian country office IDH is recruiting a
