Senior Program Manager Indonesia

The organization

IDH accelerates and up-­‐scales market transformation towards sustainable production and trade of global commodities. We build impact-­‐oriented coalitions of front-­‐running multinational companies, civil society organizations, governments and other stakeholders to improve and mainstream the sustainability of international supply chains by tackling social, ecological and economical bottlenecks for first chain actors and create market demand for sustainable products.

IDH is a Public Private Partnership initiative funded by, but at an arm’s-­‐length of the Dutch government. Acting as a mission-­‐driven investor, we strive for optimal sustainability value from public investment matched by private sector investments.

IDH programs now operate in over 50 countries and across 16 sectors, engaging more than 200 businesses and 23 civil society actors. Current programs include cocoa, coffee, tea, palm oil, cotton, aquaculture, timber and spices, among others.

The job

The primarily role of the Senior Program Manager is to develop further and manage the palm oil and pulp & paper programs in addition to supporting other IDH sector programs in the country. Occasionally, the Senior Program Manager will assist the Asia Regional Director in representing IDH in Indonesia and China.      

1. Strategic Program management
• Ensures the effective and proper integration of program activities within the strategic approach set by the Regional Director
• Contribute onstructively to policy development and strategic planning
• Identifies problems, taking corrective actions based on experience and strategic reflection
• Leads the Program Review and planning process of the program
• Responsibility for ensuring the creation and alignment of constructive relationships with program stakeholders to support IDH strategic aims
• Supports the regional programs with local insights and knowledge, strategic guidance and stakeholder management     
2. Operational program management
• Responsibility for ensuring the development and implementation of the Palm Oiland Pulp & Paper programs
• Responsibility for monitoring progress and reporting on outcomes
• Ensures that data and information produced by the organisation’s partners relating to output, outcome and impact is reliable and credible
• Responsibility for the organisation of input from the program partners to enable Operations to run the required program administration and reporting. This includes the development of performance indicators for the management of program pipeline deliverables.    
3. Stakeholder management    
• Responsibility for the proactive management of the sector network of stakeholder contacts on all levels, individually and collectively
• Assures adequate relations management with participating and non-­‐participating actors, program partners and program governance bodies    
• Ensures political recognition of the programs by local governments      
4. Networking
• Assist the Regional Director in the maintenance and expansion of the relevant IDH network and donor base, and contributing to the further strategic development of IDH in the region
• As relevant, responsibility for sharing knowledge and outcomes externally from the organisation through events and congresses.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant working experience as a change agent in agro-­‐commodities such as palm and pulp & paper
• 3+ years private sector experience, preferably in commodities trading    
• Experience in supply chain sustainability issues, from a producer and/or buying perspective, with xperience in developing countries, including Indonesia    
• Deep understanding of the Indonesian (Chinese a plus) culture and business practices    
• Experience with stakeholder management: civil society, private and public sectors    
• Entrepreneurial, adapt quickly and able to structure ambiguous situations rapidly    
• Driven, problem solver and innovative thinker with demonstrated ability to generate new creative ideas    
• Ability to take a concept from design to launch and implementation    
• Proactive, analytical, structured, sense of humor    
• Clear and impactful presentation skills, including ability to create appealing presentations    
• Excellent spoken/written communication skills in English and Indonesian; Mandarin a plus    
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
