This Buyer will be responsible for the sourcing activities of Indirect Spend categories (Equipment, Maintenance/Repairs/Operations, Service, Facility Management, Packaging Material, Laboratory consumables...) of the cocoa processing site located in Makassar. The Buyer will report directly to the Purchasing Coordinator located in Bandung. The chosen candidate will lead strategic sourcing initiatives to deliver long range cost savings programs for the goods and services in scope, as well as will perform tactical / operational purchasing activities to ensure the supply to the site.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient procurement service towards internal clients
- Deliver cost savings across categories
- Support Purchasing Coordinator to implement and apply standardized sourcing processes and ensure that desired results are delivered
- Collaborate with internal clients to optimize specifications which maximizes value for money
- Develop sub-category strategies which contribute toward the goals and balance of the local facilities
- Mentor internal customers on the application of contracted programs
- Create Local Supply Agreements for the categories in scope
- Complete the transactional / operational purchasing flow
- Report on activities on regular basis
- Assist purchasing coordinator in day to day activities
- Other tasks assigned
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing technical goods & services (preferably in food processing, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries)
- Engineering / Technical background is a plus
- A proven background in RFI / RFP procedures
- Project Management experience
- An understanding of capital equipment projects and being able to support initiatives with cost analysis and with an identified supplier base
- Strong time management skills and the ability to address multiple projects simultaneously
- High interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in team environment
- Strong negotiation skills
- Experience in international sourcing is helpful
- Advanced English
