4C Association
The 4C Association aims to unite all relevant coffee stakeholders in working towards the improvement of the economic, social & environmental conditions of coffee production and processing to build a thriving, sustainable sector for generations to come.
 
The 4C Association is the leading multi-stakeholder sustainable coffee platform, guiding the sector towards mainstream sustainability in a pre-competitive arena where all relevant stakeholders are enabled to participate. It provides a recognized baseline standard as a first step in continuous improvement towards sustainability, promotes and partners with other standards and initiatives in the market, and addresses the broader coffee sustainability agenda.
 
To fulfill its mission the 4C Association sets out to:
  • Provide a multi-stakeholder platform that will collectively strive for the adoption of as well as define the 4C Code of Conduct and its verification system forsustainable production and sourcing, in a dialogue with other standardsand initiatives.
  • Promote sustainability standards and initiatives in the market
  • Be a multi-stakeholder sustainable coffee platform addressing the broader sustainability agenda (BSA), which includes common challenges that affect coffee sector sustainability (eg climate change, ageing trees, access to finance, productivity etc.)
 
In order to extend its activities in Indonesia in line with 4C Members’ need for services on a national level, the 4C Association plans to establish a representation with an office to be located in Bandar Lampung. Hence, the 4C Association is currently looking for a Manager Indonesia to act as 4C focal point for membership services, cooperation and representation related to core services and the broader sustainability agendain Indonesia. The Manager Indonesia closely cooperates with the 4C Secretariat in Bonn and other 4C Regional Offices and reports to the Director Sustainability Innovations.

Lampung
Responsibilities:
The 4C Manager Indonesia is in charge of coordinating all 4C related activities in Indonesia, with a focus on Southern Sumatra. Duty station is Bandar Lampung, with frequent domestic and occasional international travel. As a local representative, the 4C Manager Indonesia’s key role is to support producing and exporting members in working towards sustainable coffee practices, especially resulting in increasing volumes of 4C Compliant Coffee from Indonesia according to demand. The responsibilities also include networking and cooperation with private and public stakeholders, advice to members in technical and administrative issues regarding verification and licensing, and the identification, preparation and possibly coordination of projects with members. Tasks include:
 
Representational Tasks, Networking& Communication
  • Promote 4C Membership and provide information to potential members
  • Enhance communication and information flow within and outside 4C Association, representing and promoting 4C Association at coffee meetings & conferences
  • Actively participate in the national reference group for coffee and contribute to the initiation of a national coffee sustainability platform in cooperation with local partners
  • Cooperate with other sustainability standards (Rainforest Alliance, UTZ Certified, Fairtrade,...) and technical assistance providers in Indonesia to promote the adoption of the 4C baseline standard at a national level and coordinate joint activities such as benchmarking or stepping up projects
  • Expand 4C implementers network in Indonesia in close collaboration with other sustainability standards and the 4C Vietnam Office
  • Establish and maintain co-operations with donor organizations, research institutions and coordinate joint activities
  • Provide extra services to members on demand, in collaboration with the Key Account Manager
  • Contribute to the 4C Business Development at local and regional level
  • Organization of meetings, events and specialist conferences in Indonesia if required
  • Provide input to success stories and lessons learnt from practical application
 
Technical Tasks
  • Coordinate and/or deliver 4C related training activities and information workshops on demand
  • Provide guidance and technical support regarding 4C application, preparation for verification and continuous improvement to 4C Members and 4C Units in Indonesia  (on demand)
  • Coordinate development or adaptation of tools and manuals if required
  • Identify potential project approaches, based on BSA issues; elaborate and contribute to funding proposals, including pre-project assessments and gap analyses, in cooperation with 4C Members and the 4C Secretariat in Bonn
  • Contribute to the 4C national and regional strategies
  • Support the 4C impact monitoring activities in Indonesia
 
Administrative Tasks
  • Establishment of an office and preparation of a registration of 4C in Indonesia
  • Basic accounting and budgeting
  • Project administration
  • Regular reporting to 4C Secretariat 

Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Master's Degree, Agriculture/Aquaculture/Forestry, Geographical Science, Business Studies/Administration/Management, Political Science, Social Science/Sociology or equivalent.
  • Required skill(s): • work experience with agricultural value chains and sustainability standard sys, • familiarity with verification/certification systems, internal monitoring syste, • practical experiences especially in design, organization and delivery of train, • Experience in the elaboration of project proposals and project management.
  • Required language(s): English, Bahasa Indonesia
  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Preferably Managers specializing in Agriculture/Forestry/Fisheries or equivalent.
  • Full-Time and Contract position available.

Location          Based at the 4C Office Indonesia in Bandar Lampung (to be established), with frequent, mainly domestic travels. Start with an introduction & training period at 4C Secretariat in Bonn, Germany.
